Low back pain

We find the movement pattern that keeps flaring it up, then rebuild it under load.

Most low back pain is mechanical: a hip that will not hinge, a mid-back that will not rotate, and a lumbar spine taking the difference every rep and every hour at a desk. Treating only the sore segment is why it keeps coming back on a six-week cycle.

c-01 / in your words

Does this sound like your back?

  • 01It grabs when you stand up from a chair or bend to the dishwasher
  • 02Worse in the morning, better once you move, worse again by evening
  • 03Deadlifts and squats feel fine until two days later
  • 04It has come and gone three or four times and each round lasts longer

c-01 / how it is worked

The low back protocol

  1. phase 01 / settle

Take the load off the segment that is shouting

Joint work to the lumbar and the sacroiliac, soft tissue through the glutes and the hip flexors, and two positions to keep out of for the first ten days. This phase buys room to work in. On its own it is the part that wears off, which is why it is not the plan.

  2. phase 02 / restore

Give the hip and the mid-back their range back

The lumbar spine is taking the difference between a hip that will not hinge and a thoracic spine that will not rotate. We work both, measure both, and you get the two drills that hold them between visits. Around fifteen minutes a day, not an hour.

  3. phase 03 / load

    Rebuild the hinge under weight

Loaded hinging from the position we just restored, with the weight climbing on a schedule. A back that only feels good when it is protected has not finished. We re-score the squat and the hinge at visit six against your intake numbers.

what we test first

We score your squat and hinge, test hip rotation and thoracic extension on both sides, and run the orthopedic tests that separate a joint-driven presentation from a disc-driven one. You get the finding in plain language before anything is treated.

how many visits

Most mechanical low back plans here run six visits over four to six weeks, with a re-test at visit six. You get that number and the total cost in writing at the assessment.

when this is not ours

Low back pain with unexplained weight loss, fever, a history of cancer, progressive leg weakness, or any change in bladder or bowel control is not a chiropractic problem. We refer same day.
